Academy Award Winners

We have a great collection of "Oscar's favorites", beginning with the Academy's first selections in 1929, right up through "Bridge of Spies", "The Danish Girl", "Inside Out", "Mad Max: Fury Road", "Room" and "Spotlight".

In 1929 "Wings" won Best Picture and Janet Gaynor won Best Actress for "Sunrise" and two other films. These silent classics set the gold standard for the Academy. "Wings" is about two young American fighter pilots in love with the same woman during World War One. "Sunrise" is about a poor French farmer who rediscovers his love for his devoted wife.

Unforgettable performances by Victor McLaglen in "The Informer", Vivien Leigh in "A Streetcar Named Desire", Marlon Brando in "On the Waterfront", Burt Lancaster in "Elmer Gantry", Maggie Smith in "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" - as well as many others - have been cited as the best. Who could forget Liza Minnelli in "Cabaret", or George C. Scott in "Patton", or Helen Mirren in "The Queen"? Don't miss these great films!
